My research interests evolve around the questions regarding human affective learning (reward and punishment) and decision-making. More specifically, I am interested in how human extract salient information to guide their behavior in an uncertain environment. I also focus on bridging the gap between learning-driven decision-making and those economic decision-making processes that do not have obvious learning components. One line of research projects concerns the understanding of how the circuitry of value related brain areas orchestrates to make consistent choices in inter-temporal decision making tasks. A second set of research seeks to understand how first and second order (variance and volatility) would impact people’s social behavior. A third line of research centers on better understanding the interaction of basal ganglia and prefrontal cortex in generating preferences and choices.
Yinmei is a Postdoc.
Xunwei received his B.A. in Psychology from Beijing Normal University and his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Psychology. In his previous research, Xunwei focused on implicit category learning and cross-modal information integration. Now he is interested in the relationship between reinforcement learning and decision making, and multialternative decision making.
Jiashu was born in 1991 in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. He got his bachelor degree in Psychology from Peking University in 2015. Now Jiashu is interested in the psychological and neural mechanisms underlying people’s decisions, especially how human process and integrate information when they make economic choices. He has rich experience using fMRI, tDCS, modelling and behavioral methods to explore the topics including temporal discount, reward and memory, social conformity and sunk cost. Recently, his work focuses on mental accounting — the set of cognitive processes to “organize, evaluate, and keep track of financial activities”.
Hong got her master degree in Psychology from Capital Normal University in 2019. Now she is interested in the psychological and neural mechanisms of moral decision-making and impression formation.
Jiong got her Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Economics from the Renmin University of China. She’s always been interested in reinforcement learning(RL) and now she focuses mostly on how mood affects RL.
Zheyi got her Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Chinese Literature from Peking University in 2021. Now she is interested in how human update their beliefs and seek information from the environment.
Xinru is now a senior majoring in Psychology at Peking University, expecting to join in Jian’ lab after graduation. Xinru was born in 2000 in Chongqing city, the city of mountains. She is interested in social cognition and value-based decision-making, and her current research mainly concerns about social preference, prosocial behaviors, and inequity aversion.
